Position Overview

The Chief of Staff serves as a strategic assistant to the CEO, providing high-level support in decision-making, coordination, and execution of AIH’s priorities. Position Overview

Implement AIH’s financial policies, procedures, annual financial plans, budgets, and strategic financial documents by analysing financial data, communicating reports, providing guidance, identifying and addressing challenges to optimize efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement AIH’s financial policies, procedures, annual financial plans, budgets, and strategic financial documents.

  • Ensure proper classification of financial transactions, accurate recognition of revenues (exchange and non-exchange), expenditures, and alignment with international, national and regional accounting system.
  • Manage the preparation of consolidated financial statements annually, including the Statement of Financial Position, Profit or Loss, Changes in Equity, Cash Flows, and accompanying notes.
  • Maintain and update the chart of accounts, subsidiary ledgers (for fixed assets and inventory), and integrate with financial systems like IFMIS.
  • Organize and lead to generate interim and annual reports such as budget execution summaries, receivables/payables, trial balances, and fund flows; ensure timeliness and accuracy.
  • Ensure the preparation of periodic financial statements and management accounting reports.
  • Develop and implement strategies for investment of funds; provide advice on capital budgeting decisions, monitor financial status to avoid exposures.
  • Lead to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, including credit losses, impairments, contingencies, and provisions
  • Oversee policies for credit and working capital management to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure full compliance with Ethiopian laws (e.g., tax, procurement), IFRS, IPSAS, donor requirements, and ethical standards; manage related party disclosures and contingencies.

  • Manage tax obligations, including withholding, deferred taxes, provisions, and timely payments to regulatory bodies; follow up on compliance with prudential guidelines.
  • Ensure proper acquisition, recording, issuance, and depreciation of assets, including intangible assets like software, and adhere to inventory management protocols.
  • Ensure proper filing, retention of financial documents, and handing-over procedures for staff transitions.

  • Advise on financial matters, policy reforms, economic impacts, mergers/acquisitions, and co-investments.

Qualifications
